Westpac Login a Joke?

What do you think?

James Turner, security analyst at Frost & Sullivan, said this about Westpac's anti-keylogging banking sign-in page. "Little keyboards on the screen are a joke. There's a reason that the serious enterprises use two-factor authentication for their core information and access areas - it's because they provide better security than just a password."

Westpac's website offers, "Software has been developed by fraudsters to track keystrokes made on your computer keyboard. This software is called a 'keylogging Trojan' and can be installed onto your computer without your knowledge when you click on a link within an email or download software from an internet site." The site goes on to say, "By implementing the online keypad, those attempting fraud will not be able to capture your password using keylogging software because you will not use your computer keyboard to enter your password."

Mr Andrew Young was quoted in a recent Computerworld article as saying, "... they just do stupid things sometimes, such as this new anti-keylogging sign-in page. Many key-loggers can record screen-shots and mouse movements, which totally nullifies this security upgrade, and this new system increases the risk of people being able to get your password especially if you are using the site in an office, Internet cafe or other public space where people view your monitor."
